Biography

Hello, my name is Henrik Brüsecke. I am the creator of Epic Fantasy Forge.

I am originally from Germany but spent most of my childhood in Ireland. Now I am living in Finland. I work as a software developer at a Nordic bank.

I have 10+ years of professional software development experience. The majority of my career has been focused on C++. Recently, I have also gained some experience with web and mobile development.

Projects

Aside from Epic Fantasy Forge, I have worked on some other projects before. Some projects were abandoned, others were more successful.

During my school years I developed an OpenCL and OpenMPI program to balance parallel workloads dynamically on heterogeneous systems consisting of several computing nodes in a network, where each node had several CPUs and GPUs each.

With the help of Trinity College Dublin I was able to run and test this program on a computing cluster. Due to this project I was selected to represent Northern Ireland at the Intel ISEF global science fair in 2012. The competition was held in the United States.

This project also helped me gain internships from Intel during the summers of 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Instant Workstation

I founded Instant Workstation in 2024, although work on this project had already begun in 2023. Instant Workstation is a virtual machine on demand service.

Hobbies

Besides working on programming projects, I like to go for walks in the forest. On vacation I also like to go hiking.

At home I enjoy playing board games, running my steam engine or playing with my model railway. Spending time outside beside the fire and having a BBQ is also one of my favourite leisure activities.

Location

I live in a city in Eastern Finland called Joensuu. The city has approximately 80,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of North Karelia. North Karelia is a relatively remote and sparsely populated area in Europe with a population density of only 7.5 people per km². Bears and wolves live in the forests.
